The Legacy of Jack Kidd: Remembering a Beloved Crew Member

The entertainment industry recently suffered a devastating loss with the passing of Jack Kidd, the head grip for The Bold and the Beautiful. Kidd tragically died on July 25 in an accident off of Little Tujunga Road, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.

Born on May 20, 1964, in Artesia, Calif., Kidd’s passion for the entertainment industry was evident throughout his life. He attended Van Nuys High School and even played the trumpet in the school band. In 1990, he joined the International Alliance of Theater and Staging Employees (IATSE) No. 33 and later became an employee of Television City Studios in 1995. Kidd’s dedication to his craft led him to several prestigious gigs throughout Los Angeles, including working as a head grip for Real Time with Bill Maher and Survivor.

“He came in early every day to make sure the production was ready to go,” a family statement expressed. Kidd’s dedication to his work was unmatched, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to his coworkers made him a beloved member of the crew. Colleagues fondly remembered his professionalism and work ethic, with B&B’s production designer, Jack Forrestel, stating, “Jack was the best I have come across in my 40 years as an art director.”

A Family Man

Outside of work, Kidd was known for his love of family and his passion for giving back to his community. He was a devoted Dodger fan and actively participated in his children’s activities, from coaching his son’s little league team to driving the lead truck for his daughter’s high school marching band. Kidd’s family statement highlighted his extreme pride in his role as a husband, father, and grandfather.

As the entertainment industry mourns the loss of Jack Kidd, his impact on those who knew him best will never be forgotten. His dedication, professionalism, and love for his family serve as a lasting reminder of the kind of person he was. Kidd’s legacy will live on through the memories and stories shared by those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
