The Departure of Jodi Matterson from Made Up Stories: A Bold Move Toward Silent Firework

Jodi Matterson, formerly of Made Up Stories, has made the bold decision to leave the Australian production house she co-founded with Bruna Papandrea and Steve Hutensky. She is now embarking on a new venture called Silent Firework, which will be based in Australia. Matterson expressed her excitement about this new chapter in her career, stating, “I am so excited to be taking on the challenge to continue to tell bold, entertaining stories with collaborators old and new.”

During her time at Made Up Stories, Matterson worked closely with Papandrea and Hutensky for seven years, collaborating on projects such as Wolf Like Me, Nine Perfect Strangers season one, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, Strife season one, The Dry, and Penguin Bloom. She joined the company as Managing Director, Australia, in 2017 and played a key role in establishing the company’s presence in Australia.

The Establishment of Silent Firework

Silent Firework is still shrouded in mystery, with few details available about the new venture. However, it has been revealed that Matterson will be serving as the CEO and producer of the Sydney-based company, which has been registered with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission since April. This move marks a significant shift in Matterson’s career as she steps out on her own to pursue her creative vision.

In response to Matterson’s departure, Made Up Stories co-founders Papandrea and Hutensky released a statement expressing their gratitude for her contributions over the years. They acknowledged her integral role in establishing the company in Australia and wished her the best in her future endeavors. Matterson’s exit comes at a time when Made Up Stories is enjoying a successful streak, with projects like The Last Anniversary and Strife garnering attention.

Despite Matterson’s departure, Made Up Stories continues to thrive with projects like The Last Anniversary and the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers in the works. The company has also been involved in high-profile collaborations, including a thriller package written by Natalie Krinsky and starring Kim Kardashian, as well as the limited series The Good Daughter with Jessica Biel. Additionally, Made Up Stories is developing Fiona McIntosh’s novel The Pearl Thief into a feature film.

Jodi Matterson’s decision to leave Made Up Stories and launch Silent Firework marks a significant turning point in her career. As she embarks on this new journey, she brings with her a wealth of experience and a passion for storytelling.
