Rosy McEwen Joins Cast of Mission

Rosy McEwen, known for her breakout role in Georgia Oakley’s indie favorite Blue Jean, has recently joined the cast of Mission, the latest feature from Scottish filmmaker Paul Wright. The film, described as a “punk exploration” follows the journey of Dylan, played by George MacKay, as he breaks away from his solitary life in search of the extremes of existence. Alongside McEwen and MacKay, the film also stars Maisie Williams and Caleb Landry-Jones.

In Mission, McEwen takes on the role of Claire, Dylan’s estranged sister. As Dylan seeks self-discovery in a thrilling and sometimes terrifying journey, he reconnects with Claire, creating a bond that is both inspiring and complex. Set in Glasgow, Scotland, the film promises to delve into themes of alienation, self-exploration, and the highs and lows of human existence.

Produced by a team of industry veterans including Kate Byers, Alex Thiele, and Marie-Elena Dyche, Mission is a collaboration between Early Day Films and 65 Wilding Films. The project, backed by BBC Film, Screen Scotland, and Ffilm Cymru Wales, has received funding from the National Lottery to bring the story to life on screen. Blue Finch Films will handle worldwide distribution of the film once it is completed.

McEwen’s talent has not gone unnoticed, as she secured a BIFA award for her leading performance in Blue Jean. Following her work on Mission, she is slated to appear in Athina Rachel Tsangari’s Harvest and alongside Dev Patel in Rabbit Trap. With representation from Curtis Brown Group, CAA, and other industry heavyweights, McEwen’s star is on the rise in the world of independent cinema.

Rosy McEwen’s involvement in Mission adds a layer of depth and complexity to the film’s exploration of self-discovery and human connection. As she continues to expand her repertoire with diverse and challenging roles, audiences can look forward to seeing more of McEwen’s talent on the big screen in the coming years.
