The Development of a Series Adaptation: All the Colors of the Dark

UCP has joined forces with Side Naegle, Jenna Bush Hager’s Thousand Voices, and Ali Krug’s Dinner Party Productions to bring to life a series adaptation of Chris Whitaker’s latest novel, All the Colors of the Dark. This project will be adapted by Sarah Gubbins, known for her work on Pam & Tommy and Better Things. The team of executive producers includes Naegle, Krug, Hager, Ben Spector, and Whitaker himself.

The plot of All the Colors of the Dark unfolds in the quaint town of Monta Clare, Missouri, where a teenage girl’s abduction is thwarted by an unexpected hero. Patch, a one-eyed local boy with dreams of being a pirate, comes to the girl’s rescue, but not without creating a ripple effect of heartache. His loyal friend, Saint, soon finds himself navigating the thin line between success and tragedy as they search for answers that may jeopardize their bond.

Jenna Bush Hager praises Chris Whitaker’s novel as a “beautiful masterpiece” that seamlessly blends elements of small-town America with deep-rooted friendships in the midst of a thrilling narrative. The team, including Naegle, Krug, Gubbins, and Whitaker, express their enthusiasm for bringing this captivating story to the television audience.
